“[Expressive and Therapeutic Art] is a way of helping people know their complete selves … It is about having a full soul and a full heart and realising that you’re a full person. It is important to honour that playful, imaginative aspect of ourselves that is all too often forgotten when we’re running here and there and stressing out. It is important for people to reconnect with that part of themselves.”
Riverwalk’s Michelle was interviewed by the Auroran newspaper about the Cafe Series concert series coming to York Region starting this February. You can read the article here (go to page 12). Each month, for the next few months, Riverwalk will be putting on an acoustic concert and art show in cafes all over York Region. The first will take place Febuary 25th, 6-9pm at Cafe, Books and Things in Newmarket on Main St. The second will take place March 25th, 3 – 6pm at Bonsai Hill at Yonge and Wellington in Aurora.
In March, a new Music as Expression group will be starting at the Newmarket Public Library, Saturdays in the afternoon. Bring an acoustic instrument, play one of our percussion instruments, or just use your singing voice to join in as we play and sing along to popular songs or take part in impromptu jam sessions. No experience necessary! This group is free with a referral from either Riverwalk or Addiction Services for York Region.
